Alex is a professional tuba player who records, teaches, and performs all across the San Francisco Bay Area. He is a performing and recording artist for the Miraphone brand of brass instruments.
Alex can also teach Tuba, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, and Baritone / Euphonium.
He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Tennessee Tech University, where he studied with world renowned tuba professor, R. Winston Morris. With the Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble, he went on two tours and performed at Carnegie Hall. Alex obtained his Master’s Degree in Music Performance from Illinois State University under Dr. Andrew Rummel.
Alex’s teaching style focuses on building a strong musical foundation for each musician, so that no matter what their goals are, they have a stable foundation to build upon artistically. He has taught brass lessons in Tennessee, Illinois, Virginia, and remotely since 2014; now in the SF Bay Area!
Since 2016, Alex has been in high demand as a recording artist. He has recorded on over 40 albums, on over 300 tracks, and for video games, television, and more.
Currently he is the tuba player for The Game Brass, a multi award winning brass ensemble, that specializes in classically informed video game music arrangements. Together they released 8 albums and over 200 music videos.
Alex has performed alongside the Bay Philharmonic, Nashville Symphony, Chattanooga Symphony, Bryan Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Symphony, Monterey Pops Orchestra, Foothill Symphonic Winds, DiscoCactus, and many brass chamber music ensembles.
