Dominic Favia, praised by the San Francisco Chronicle for his “unforgettable display of virtuosity”, started taking trumpet lessons when he was nine years old and loved playing trumpet as a kid. He gains his enthusiasm for teaching from the great teachers and mentors he had growing up. Since moving two years ago, he has taught lessons and coached students in addition to performing in the Bay Area. When not performing or teaching, Dominic enjoys spending time wood working and barbecuing on his grill. Originally from Vienna, Virginia, he received a Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as student of Adam Luftman and a bachelor’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music studying under Michael Sachs. Dominic has performed with the American Bach Soloists, the Carmel Bach Festival and has attended the Berwick Academy, in Eugene, Oregon, the Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra in Charleston, South Carolina, the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colorado, and the National Orchestral Institute in College Park, Maryland. He has performed on the NPR radio show From the Top, and has soloed with the United States Navy Band in Washington, DC.
