Luis has been a saxophone player since a young child and performed as a saxophonist at SFSU under Andrew Speight. Prior to SFSU, Luis has studied under Geordie Frazer and taken lessons with Patrick Langham at UOP. Although the Saxophone is the primary instrument of performance, he is also well versed in flute playing and performance.
He went to SFSU to pursue his Bachelors of Music in Jazz Performance and has performed with the jazz band, jazz ensembles, Saxophone quartets, Wind Ensemble and was a principal player with the SFSU Orchestra for a Saxophone solo.
He strongly believes in the fundamentals of Victor Morosco and Joe Allard and teaches strong methods of technique for embouchure control and playing. Lessons are divided into sections of technique, rhythm, education and performance in jazz, classical and modern performance.
