At Heriz Music: Burlingame, 94010
A Colorado native and the fourth child of two music teachers, Paul Nemeth showed early talent in
music, beginning piano instruction at age five and trumpet at age ten. Paul began guitar lessons at
fifteen and then settled on the electric bass as his primary instrument at age sixteen. Paul went on to
study at the University of Denver with local jazz legends Lou Fischer and Ken Walker, as well as Colorado Symphony double-bassist John Arnesen, earning his bachelor’s degree in Commercial Music Performance in 1994. Paul honed his chops after-hours performing with ex Frankie Lymon/Drifters vocalist Derek Ventura and the Jerry Barnett Orchestra. Paul relocated to the SF Bay Area in 1995, performing blues, jazz and gospel as far north as St. Helena and as far south as Carmel. Paul has been the principal electric bassist for the Church of the Highlands Orchestra and has played bass and guitar for productions like “Footloose”, “Legally Blonde” and “Shrek: The Musical.”
Paul has taught guitar, bass and ukulele in the Bay Area since 2004 and is on staff at Hillside Christian
Academy, Highlands Christian Schools and Crystal Springs Uplands, as well as having taught for five years at Bronstein Music in South San Francisco. Paul has taught students from age five to seventy and strives to make every lesson a fun, rewarding and immersive experience.
